UPWF is a not-for-profit organization working in India since 2017, focusing on alleviating poverty and social injustice. We do this through well planned and comprehensive projects in health, education, livelihoods and Legal counsel and response. Our overall goal is the empowerment of women and girls from poor and marginalized communities leading to improvement in their lives and livelihoods as well some other activity.

MISSION

To provide support, build capacity, and integrate individuals into mainstream society who have traditionally been suppressed in personal, social, economic and political domains.

ACTIVITIES OF THE ORGANIZATION

A) Psychosocial Support

Multiplier TOT module, development and implementation of community action plans on psycho-social support, follow up of formerly abducted children in the community, provision of counseling services, community based reception and rehabilitation of Formerly Abducted Children (FAC), referrals of severe cases to other specialized service providers.

B) Child protection

Formation and training of child protection committees, community dialogue meetings, and support to community led initiatives on child protection, translation of key legal and policy documents into local languages, data collection on violation of children’s rights and supporting  formal education for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in INDIA.

C) Livelihoods Support

Provision of sustainable and profitable means of livelihoods, training of Income Generating Activities and financial management, support to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) to attain vocational skills and provision of basic start up tool kits to beneficiaries War affected children in the community.

D) Peace Building and Reconciliation.

Training of Parents Support Groups and Youth Support Groups on peace building and conflict resolution, ongoing tracing and re-union, facilitation of community reconciliation and peace meetings, community and religious dialogues and consensus building on traditional justice systems, interactive games and sports among children and youth, development and implementation of peace, action plans, and dissemination of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials to provide acceptance and reintegration.

E) HIV/AIDS is mainstreamed into all the core programs.

F) Advocacy

Is a strategy through which UPWF addresses cross cutting issues that arise from the above core programs messages are generated through Parents Support Groups and Youth Support Groups meetings.

G) Environmental Protection and conservation

Training of Youth Support Groups, formation of Environmental Protection and Conservation Clubs in schools, established a tree nursery which acts as a demonstration site and supplies tree seedlings to the community. UPWF will open a tree demonstration garden in 2018 which will be used as a learning center for tree growers, students and environmentalists.

H) Emergency and relief

Provision of food aid, training in food security and agricultural rehabilitation to formerly displaced returnees, people affected by drought and floods which resulted to famine in Vadodara and nearby this area.

I) Reproductive Health

This is done through: Behavioral Change Communication (BCC), awareness and sensitization, guidance and counseling, distribution of Information Education and Communication materials, HIV/AIDS Counseling and Testing and community outreaches.Health care activities in rural villages include free health camps and awareness programs.

J) Education

This is a cross-cutting activity in all the programmes of UPWF. It is an integrated activity. UPWF is supporting 20 orphans and vulnerable children by provision of scholastic materials, school fees and basic materials. Vocational training: Programs are organized for unemployed women to build their skills and make them profitable.

K) Women Empowerment

Women’s development program: Organizing women into self-help groups, promotion of savings and credit activities, and small businesses development through micro-finance. To coordinate with 181 mahila abhayam & make awareness programme in SLUM AREAS, SCHOOLS, COLLAGES, ITI, & PUBLIC PLACES.
